2) Submit the application fee with the PayPal button below. Paypal will redirect you to Part 2 of the application.
3) Fill out Part 2 of the Application Form here. To pass our automated filters, please only submit Part 2 after you have have submitted your application fee via PayPal.
Video links (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) are still required as part of your application process in the event that your audition is cancelled due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. Singers will be evaluated based on their live auditions and only on their recorded auditions if the live audition is not attended.
Required Repertoire:
Please submit 2 arias in varying style and language, demonstrating the range of your desired roles.
Video links (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) are preferred but audio (Soundcloud, etc.) are accepted.
Submissions do not need to be of professional recording quality.

€ 2950: Studio Program Tuition
€ 4950: Festival Singer Tuition
€ 5450: Festival Singer Tuition plus 'Explore Berlin & Transport Package'
Note: Festival singers are those who have been cast in a BOA OpernFest production. Studio singers are those who have been offered a place in either the BOA Studio for Professional Training or the BOA Studio for Vocal Development.
All singers are required to submit a non-refundable deposit of 950€ to hold their place at BOA. This deposit will be deducted from the singer’s final tuition fee.
*Accommodation is neither included in the Tuition fee nor supplemental Transportation/Assistance Packages. Singers are to book accommodation independently.
TRANSPORTATION & ASSISTANCE PACKAGES
Explore Berlin & Transport Package: 500€
- Airport Transfer between BER Airport and your independently booked accommodation at the start and end of your session
- Monthly transit pass delivered to you at pick-up
- Tour of Berlin focussed on Berlin's culture and musical history, especially for BOA's participants
Visa Application Consultation Package: 500€
- Two 30-minute Residency Permit Application consultations, 1-on-1
- Video call with Insurance Agent to find the best medical insurance for your personal situation
- Provided templates for all residency permit application documentation requirements
- One 30-minute follow-up consultation in 3 months' time
Please note: the Visa Application Consultation Package is relevant to any participant who is interested in living in Berlin on a permanent basis and is not intended for those who require a visa to attend BOA.
Local Assistance Package: 750€
- Airport Transfer between BER Airport and your independently booked accommodation at the start and end of your session
- Assistance booking, traveling to and from, and translating during medical appointments
- Assistance with bureaucratic processes (eg: loss of your passport while in Berlin)
- Access to a 24/7 Staff Contact for round-the-clock assistance in the event of emergency
To apply for a scholarship, please prepare a brief letter of request to upload in the appropriate section of your application. Financial assistance is available in a range of sums, starting at 200€ and going up to a limited number of full-tuition scholarships. Please specify exactly the amounts of scholarship for which you are applying.
In your letter, please include other sources of financial support, such as crowd-funding, fundraising concerts, fundraising dinners, completed applications for local scholarships, and other means of support.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of artistic merit and financial need, as well as casting requirements for each opera. Oversubscribed roles are unlikely to attract successful scholarship applications. Undersubscribed roles are more likely to be successful. We have scholarships available for all genders, ages and roles and particularly encourage male singers of merit to apply.
